Extension to a family home in North London. The steep slope of the garden was turned from a problem into an asset by arranging the house and garden as a series of terraces: the living room, the dining room, the patio, and the lawn. This created the distinctive plinth, of reclaimed London stock bricks.
The project responds to the client's wish for a glassy and bright, but comfortable, sustainable home. The oak fins and roof overhangs provide privacy from the adjacent gardens; the fins shade the interior from the summer sun, whilst letting in as much daylight as possible through high-performance glazing.
